Rabbit Tunnels” with Genius Engineering and Smart Design, that’s how Hamas planned to protect its tunnels from Israeli water

With the announcement by the Israeli army on Sunday of the discovery of the ‘largest tunnel’ dug by the Hamas movement in the Gaza Strip, doubts loom over its plan to eliminate these tunnels, even after starting tests to flood them with water.
Previously, CNN reported on Tuesday that a US official stated that the Israelis had informed Washington they had begun ‘careful tests’ to flood some tunnels in Gaza with seawater ‘on a limited scale’ to ascertain whether it would lead to a broader deterioration of the tunnel network.
And on Thursday, Hamas leader Osama Hamdan, during a press conference in Beirut, responded by stating that the movement had constructed its tunnels to ‘resist potential attempts to pump water into them’ by ‘highly trained and educated engineers.’
In his words, ‘Tunnels are an integral part of resistance, and all potential attacks have been taken into account.’
Military expert Brigadier Majed Al-Qaisi, the Director of the Security and Defense Program at the International Institute for Policy and Strategy, played down Israel’s ability to flood Hamas tunnels famously known as the ‘labyrinth’, basing this on…
It’s evident that Israel lacks maps of this spider-web-like network of tunnels. Previously, Israel attempted to destroy them using targeted bombs designed for destroying fortifications, but failed.

Hamas relied on two types of tunnels in their design: the first, called ‘Rabbit Tunnels,’ have an entrance but no exit, resembling fake tunnels to deceive the Israeli army. They have indeed resulted in the deaths of officers and soldiers when these tunnels were booby-trapped upon their openings.

The second type is the spider-web network, which makes it difficult to determine their paths, entrances, or exits. This type is what Hamas heavily relies on for underground movement.
Hamas seems prepared during this war, having engaged in four wars against the Israeli army. In the previous three wars in 2008, 2014, and 2021, the initiative was in the hands of the Israeli army, but this time, it appears that Hamas holds the initiative.

The movement also seems to possess greater military capabilities now, using rockets ranging from 3 to 250 kilometers. They have launched more than 11,000 rockets so far towards cities like Ashkelon, Tel Aviv, and areas within the Gaza Strip.
