في نوفمبر 2024، فتحت السلطات الهندية تحقيقًا في حادثة وفاة ثلاثة أشخاص سقطت سيارتهم من جسر غير مكتمل في ولاية أوتار براديش. كان السائق يتبع توجيهات تطبيق “خرائط غوغل” التي قادته إلى الجسر المتضرر، مما أدى إلى الحادث المأساوي.
الشرطة الهندية تعتزم ملاحقة خدمة “خرائط غوغل” وممثلين عن إدارة الأشغال العامة للتحقيق في ملابسات الحادث. من جانبها، أعربت “غوغل” عن تعازيها الحارة للعائلات المتضررة وأكدت تعاونها الكامل مع السلطات في التحقيق الجاري.
تجدر الإشارة إلى أن هذه ليست الحادثة الأولى من نوعها؛ ففي العام السابق، توفي طبيبان في ولاية كيرالا بعد سقوط سيارتهما في نهر بيريار نتيجة اتباع توجيهات “خرائط غوغل”.
بالرغم من فتح تحقيق رسمي في الحادثة، لم تُرفع دعوى قضائية رسمية ضد “غوغل” حتى الآن. لذا، الخبر المتداول حول مقاضاة الحكومة الهندية لشركة “غوغل” بسبب هذه الحادثة غير دقيق حاليًا.
