تم إطلاق هذه المناسبة في عام 2015 بمبادرة من سمو الشيخة فاطمة بنت مبارك، رئيسة الاتحاد النسائي العام، ورئيسة المجلس الأعلى للأمومة والطفولة، الرئيسة الأعلى لمؤسسة التنمية الأسرية. وقد اختارت سموها هذا اليوم للتزامن مع ذكرى تأسيس الاتحاد النسائي العام، الذي لعب دوراً محورياً في دعم المرأة وتعزيز مشاركتها في التنمية الوطنية.
في كل عام، يحمل يوم المرأة الإماراتية شعاراً يعكس التوجهات الوطنية والأهداف الاستراتيجية للدولة. في 2024، جاء الاحتفال تحت شعار “نتشارك للغد”، مما يعكس الرؤية المستقبلية لدولة الإمارات التي تسعى إلى إشراك المرأة بشكل أكبر في جهود التنمية المستدامة وبناء مستقبل مشرق للأجيال القادمة.
لقد أثبتت المرأة الإماراتية قدرتها على التفوق في مختلف المجالات، من السياسة والاقتصاد، إلى العلوم والتكنولوجيا والفنون. وقد تم تعيين العديد من النساء في مناصب قيادية بارزة، مما يعكس مدى الثقة التي توليها دولة الامارات لإمكانات المرأة وقدراتها.
يعد يوم المرأة الإماراتية فرصة لإبراز قصص النجاح والإلهام، وللتأكيد على أهمية مواصلة العمل لتحقيق المزيد من التقدم والمساواة. كما أنه دعوة للاعتراف بالجهود المبذولة من قبل النساء الإماراتيات في كل مكان، سواء في منازلهن، أو في أماكن العمل، أو في ساحات التطوع.
